Below are a few points we created to reduce conflict between us and hopefully allow us to have a better trip. This list was inspired by/borrowed from a tour journal by another couple who biked across Canada(Journal here):
- Get on the road by 6:00 am (cooler, less traffic)
- Ride easy and steadily; spinning and not mashing the pedals
- Ride as far as possible per day, 100+ km; Hopefully increasing the distance as the trip progresses
- Stop every 45 minutes for a brief rest, stretch, snack and drink(non-alcoholic)
- Stop at the first sign of injury(not to be confused with fatigue)
- Before going to bed, study the next days plan for possible campsites, food and water locations
- Carry a days supply of food in populated areas and two days in remote locations
